COMMISSION PAINTINGS
Mike Savage commissions are the best way to preserve your favorite vacation spot, your first house, family pets, or to get a re-paint of any of Mike Savage's classic paintings of Kansas City or the Country Club Plaza. He's great at capturing the magic of any moment or place, so if you want it painted, contact me and we'll talk it over!
HOW TO GET STARTED
To start a commission, Mike will either need a photo of what you want painted, or for you to describe what it is you were thinking. He can take that info from you and we can discuss any other ideas you may want to incorporate. We prefer photos to be emailed. Once we have a clear idea of what you want painted and you've nailed down the size canvas you want, we take a $100 non-refundable deposit that will go towards the total due for your painting, and then assign you a date (usually 2-3 months out) that Mike will have your painting completed by.
A few weeks before your due date is when Mike gets to work on your painting! Once Mike has all of the details of your painting, he starts working on a sketch. He draws a quick line drawing with the main points laid out for your approval so he knows he's on the same page as you. Once this is approved, he lays out the painting in detail on your canvas. After your approval of this detailed drawing, Mike starts painting! This process can be as involved as you like. Some clients prefer to let Mike do his thing, while others want to help him tweak the painting to what they have in mind. Either way is fine! Just note if Mike has to resketch your painting a few times, it might push back your completed date a week or two.

Prices for some of our most popular canvas sizes are below. You are not limited to these, but just a starting point. We am happy to quote you on any size you are interested in. These prices are for a gallery wrapped canvas, where the side edge of the canvas is exposed. If you would like your painting framed, check out our framing options here.

Mike also does smaller commissioned paintings on Bristol Paper, a fixed 10”x14” size paper that comes with a mat. This size and medium lends itself well to looser, more abstract style. The painting with mat is $350. Adding a matte-black flat front frame with conservation glass is an additional $100.
